Happy Holidays, crowoxy! Part 3
The Feline of the Apocalicolypse - Part 3!

John took a nap because he was overwhelmed. War, Famine and Pestilence argued over the cat, each one claiming it was theirs. Death stood aside and patted her head thoughtfully. I WOULD LIKE TO CALL YOU APILA, he said, BUT I HAVE A FEELING IT'S NOT REALLY YOUR NAME.
It wasn't, of course. But she didn't mind.
14.
In time, the three others stopped arguing and turned to Death, who showed them the scrolls John had written about them all. They read the words and knew that it meant they were supposed to be a team, and they would end the world. At first they weren't sure they wanted to work together, because they had all been doing fine at destroying humans by themselves.
Then Symphonia mewed to get their attention. She purred very, very loudly and turned her huge, beautiful eyes upon them all. She would convince them to do what they needed to do.
15.
"Oh!" said Pestilence suddenly. "Look! We've been arguing who the cat should belong to, but she really belongs to us all!"
"Yes, I think I see," Famine added. "She is more of a mascot than a pet."
"And she even has all our colors!" said War. "Red for me, black for Famine, and white for Pestilence!"
"Yes, but then how does Death fit in?" asked Pestilence.
HER EYES ARE THE SAME AS MINE, said Death.
"But," Famine said. "Yours are blue."
16.
Death's eyes winked, and suddenly they were golden-green, just like the cat's.
NO, THEY'RE NOT.
The others groaned and chuckled, but there was good humor all around, for an agreement had been reached.
Symphonia purred happily, knowing that now they would work together as intended.
17.
Eventually they left her there with John, because they knew they could come back and visit and learn more of the prophecies when John finished them. And they would make sure that he had plenty of food, that he stayed healthy and safe, and didn't die before his time was up.
All because of a cat that was too cute to resist.
Epilogue.
Long, long ago — but not as long ago as John of Patmos — there were an angel and a demon who were frustrated with fighting one another. The angel had recently acquired a very ancient and very important scroll written in a cave. And they were just about to meet an impossibly adorable cat, who they would decide to call Amanah, even though that was not really her name...

(Anonymous) 2019-01-06 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)And the kitty is somewhat loosely based on one of my own, so obviously I love her to bits as well. =^_^=

"BUT I HAVE A FEELING IT'S NOT REALLY YOUR NAME" That's such a good (almost) wrap-up to the name cycle. I love that we never do get her name, because names are precious things, and even Death doesn't know. (Also, I like the implication that she's gonna hang around as long as she wants to because she's just TOO cute for Death to take)
And she's all their colors!!!! And Death's eyes!! "no they're not" That is the Sweetest thing. And their changes of expression when he changes his eye color. !!!!!
Also Aziraphale and Crowley!!! I love them! Crowley's "WHY " hands crack me up.
So so good, and it works so well in the genre, like, I would love to have a physical picture book of this. Truly truly lovely!

(Anonymous) 2019-01-06 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)Lol, yes, Death is quite the joker and he LOVES CATS, just like the Death of Discworld.
Thank you so much for all your lovely comments! And I actually have given thought to printing this one, something I've not done before. I probably wouldn't need to tweak very much.

Re: THANK YOU
(Anonymous) 2019-01-06 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)Omg, I'm so glad you like it! I absolutely couldn't resist the prompt, because -- like everyone in this comic -- I too cannot resist a cat! Nope, no one ever learns her real name (she wouldn't even tell ME), but once the reveals are in and I post to my own journal, you'll see the reason WHY. ;)
Once again, so VERY happy you enjoyed it! (And sorry for misspelling your name, it will be corrected for the final posting.)
