Aziraphale was assigned to watch over the Chinese Emperor in the 14th Century, when the Emperor proclaimed that surely his courtiers were smart enough to detangle a nine-ring puzzle? (The neighboring queen had just insulted his country's workmanship by hammering the links.) And Aziraphale managed to solve it by fidgeting; he just wanted to gift it to Crowley because he knew he'd like it :)
