The dinosaur was partly a reference to the TV show, but also I read this book "Spiny, Spotted, Feathered, Frilled" which gave a great history of our 'knowledge' of dinosaurs. I needed something for Adam to be amazed by other than aliens, so it seemed like a good step :)
