Someday I will write a real review that praises this fic in the manner it deserves. Someday, I'll wax lyrical but without any exaggeration about how your story is everything fanfiction could and should be. How you took the best qualities of the original work--the quirky humor, subtle emotions, attention to detail, and most impressively, pure imagination--and extended it. How calling it "canon-like" is an injustice, because in my honest and blasphemous opinion, this was better than canon. More well-written and cohesive, for a start. The first line was enough to hook me, but by the second scene break I knew I was in the hands of a master, and was convinced you could do no wrong as an author. But in addition to the flawless writing, you didn't just use canon as a foundation on which to build a story, but as a launching point into uncharted--or rather, uncreated--lands, to defective portals and dimensional mindscapes and cold, mindless Heavens and gum-chewing Gods and dog-loving, fatherly Satans.

Don't get me started on how the Aziraphale/Crowley romance was done to subtle, shivery, sensuous yet startlingly unphysical perfection. A total absence of kissing, smut, or even any real cuddling. I could not be more satisfied.

(My post-read high usually consists of flailing about my room screaming, babbling in incoherent awe to anyone that'll listen, and sighing covetously while rereading perfect turns of phrase. This time all this was followed by my attempt to take quick shower, which failed because I stood grinning and reliving my favorite scenes for ages before actually touching the faucet.)

By the middle of the first part I knew I wanted this story to never end; by the last line I knew I didn't want it to end any other way. Normally I'd say the resolution to Aziraphale and Crowley's situation is far too ideal (inhabiting humanity's middle ground, indulging in sensory experiences, retaining full use of their own powers, ignored by the Powers That Be, and able to blaspheme against either Power with impunity? Come on). But you make it work. Magnificently.
