Oh, how sad! I must admit that I always thought that Adam would never allow himself or the Them to grow up - they'd stay young and having adventures forever. Having read this, I think my version is happier, but yours has a ring of truth about it. This displays Adam's humanity to perfection, but now I want to love this boy in whatever way he required, be whoever he needed, do anything he wanted. Lovely.
