Crowley and Aziraphale in Prohibition America
for: [livejournal.com profile] cinaed
from: [livejournal.com profile] eldanis
rating: PG (for alcohol and window abuse)

Crowley and Aziraphale in Prohibition America. Prime tempting turf, naturally, what with all that repression; what better excuse for a trip abroad? Also excellent spirits, music, and dancing. Perhaps Aziraphale tagged along for a bit of a holiday and booze, ostensibly for the purpose of thwarting? In any case, their wiling/thwarting/drinking has just been interrupted by a police raid on the speakeasy.... and they're both juuuust drunk enough to have forgotten they can easily poof out of the vicinity if they need to. Aziraphale has had a few too many cookies lately (I'd call them biscuits, but this IS America, after all), and Crowley is trying to shove his somewhat portly inebriated friend out the window before they're arrested, while (of course) rescuing some of the good booze. Sure, they could simply miracle some up later, but it just isn't the same, you know.

My utmost apologies for any glaring period inaccuracies! I confess I procrastinated and then matters were suddenly down to the wire, and I didn't have time to do more than brief cursory research on setting and costume. I hope the picture's virtues outweigh its flaws though, or at least lend them dubious charm. If my efforts have made you smile, my goal is fulfilled!

Happy Holidays, [livejournal.com profile] cinaed, from your Secret Artist!

The sheer gorgeousness of their faces would make up for any sort of inaccuracies in other areas. Which aren't noticeable, if you ask me. :)

I adore Crowley sneaking out a few choice bottles of bathtub booze (honestly, how could he prefer that over vintage wine? Experimenting?) And I am completely in LOVE with Aziraphale's shoe falling off. Oh dear, I now imagine a strange sort of Cinderella. Or at the very least him insisting they rescue it because it was expensive and he doesn't want to simply miracle up a new pair. XD

Oh my goodness. *squeaks* This DEFINITELY put a smile on my face, Secret Artist! I love the whole concept of Crowley and Aziraphale at a speakeasy and being too drunk to simply make a non-human exit when the police raid the place.

And your artwork is absolutely gorgeous. I love Crowley smuggling along some alcohol, and the look on Aziraphale's face, and there's just something about Crowley's expression and the way his hair's falling in the picture that just makes me go, "Oh, oh, AMAZING!" at the computer screen.

Thank you SO much!

oh wow! This is really lovely work--the creases in their clothing, the hair, Crowley's glasses, the patch on Aziraphale's sleeve! ♥ I also think the background medium you used--whatever it is, the vague brown with darker lines that could pass as creases--really complements the drawing with its atmosphere. :D

It's a beautiful drawing and there are some really neat details, but mostly I love that Crowley's hand is on Aziraphale's ass.

This is awesome.

I love how Aziraphale's shoe is falling off, and how Crowley's trying to rescue some of the booze while copping a feel helping Aziraphale climb out of the window. And their expressions? Perfect.

I dunno the wall sconces and the beadboard look pretty period correct to me...heh, but the main action more than takes attention away from any lapses.

It's very much a good illustration; there is the sense of narrative. You can see it accompanying a story. The drawing is a very clean, accurate style but there's also nothing static about it; there's a nice sense of movement conveyed.

The humor and touches of character are delightful, Crowley shoving on Aziraphale's rather generous butt, but also taking care to bring a couple of bottles of the hooch along. 'Zira a scholarly bookish type immediately with the leather patches on his jacket and his inebriation but his unlaced shoes!

Crowley's face in incredibly gorgeous, and the whole composition is great ! Amazing art, really !
Crowley will later deny it, but I'm pretty sure he's taking advantage of the situation to cop a feel.

Fft, don't worry about inaccuracies! If there are any, I certainly don't know enough about the period to spot them. Their expressions are perfect, and I love that Crowley isn't letting go of the bottles :D

That's delightful! They both seem really physical to me, if that makes sense.

Crowley's neck. I particularly like the way you've caught his head and his facial expression, and the tension in his neck is somehow very real. Both of their poses are excellent, Aziraphale's thumb on the windowsill and the way he looks genuinely worried. Also, the marks in the ceiling.

Overall wow. Just wow.

How so awesome, Secret Artist?! This is amazing and gorgeous and made of WIN. It's making me crave a whole speakeasy proprietor business AU, which is not to say your art isn't enough, but it has that great quality of making one crave for more.
