Title: Christmas Eve Will Find Me
Recipient: [livejournal.com profile] thecrazyalaskan
Artist: [livejournal.com profile] peach_megumi
Rating: G
Request: Crowley x Aziraphale. Christmas in WWII. History nerd feels FTW. Any rating.
Artist's Notes: Happy Christmas! I'm afraid that Aziraphale and Crowley didn't end up being in the same picture (I enjoyed drawing two sides of Christmas during the war). I hope you enjoy this; I certainly had fun drawing it.

Lovely! It really fits them to be helping during the War (even Crowley, and I love that he does without an audience). These are gorgeous!

These appeal so much to the WWII historical fiction nerd in me. They make a great set, too- the homeyness of the hospital scene contrasting with the bleakness of the trenches, but so much warmth in both. I can't get over the amazing facial expressions/body language in the second picture- the little boy is so trusting, and the girl looks like she wants to be, but isn't sure yet, and Crowley is almost-but-not-quite too exhausted to turn on his usual charm. Love it.

Well, thank you so much! I'm very glad to have pleased your history-nerd, and equally glad that the intended feelings of the work came across so well!

I didn't realize it before I read the comments but I find it very in-character how both of them are helping but Crowley does it without an audience and is the one in the battlefield whereas Aziraphale stays in the relative comfort of a hospital. I really like the expressions, they tell a story of their own (everyone seems happy but in very different ways). Also I really like Crowley's uniform.

A happy Christmas indeed, dear mystery artist, with lovely illustrations like these!

I really love what you've done with both Crowley and Aziraphale, depicting them interacting with other people, and both in positive ways. We sometimes forget how fond they both are of ordinary people, and this is a great reminder of that.

As a fellow artist, I'm especially impressed by how well you've handled different body types, genders, and ages, and wow, non-artists really don't properly appreciate the effort that goes into full backgrounds like that in the first picture! And did you do these with ballpoint pen? (Looks like it to me but I'm not 100% sure) If so, even MORE impressive!

Thank you very much! And, given the amount I love your work, it's especially lovely to get such a response from you. I did indeed draw these with ballpoint pen - I'm sure my former professors would be shaking their heads at me, but I absolutely love using those. Whoops!

I love the fondness that Aziraphale and Crowley have for earth and humanity, and the prompt seemed like a good chance to do something with it!

Really, thanks again.

Oooh, these are lovely. I love all the expressions, and how the hospital room is cosy and safe and the battlefield is a bit more desolate and yet both are pictures of Christmas warmth and joy. I love the expressions and the clothes and in particular Crowley's uniform, it's lovely. I may have a thing for army fatigues. Though Aziraphale's plumpness and clothing made me smile too.

And like all the other commentors have said, it seems fitting that Aziraphale works with nurses in the safety of a hospital while Crowley is in the war with no audience to witness a demon being nice, seated tiredly on a crate and still giving biscuits to children. I love the small smile he's giving the boy standing so close to him.

Lovely! ♥

In total agreement with the above posters. Each role fits them so well. And omg, all the shading done with lines and crosshatching. That must have taken so much patience to do. <3

I was sure I'd commented on this earlier, but apparently not. D: These are really lovely and in character! I may or may not (hint: I totally do) have a soft spot for Crowley and children-- this is too adorable! <3

So, so lovely! And how fitting––I can see both of them just as they are here. It's really quite lovely, and your art is impressive in a technical sense, as well!

(Did you ever read daegaer's WWI fics? Even though those take place twenty years earlier, this reminds me a bit of those, although these moments are a bit happier; still, the sense of history is much the same. I mean this as a huge compliment!)

Oh, this is wonderful. The difference between the side characters in Aziraphale's picture (warm, comforting nurses helping him to do something decorative) and in Crowley's (bleak, ragged children who he is feeding, regardless of what the 'right' behavior for a demon is) is really stunning, as how well the facial expressions pull off their emotions!

I love the details you put into the backgrounds, it really solidifies the difference between Aziraphale and Crowley's situations. The body language is great, especially in the second picture, Crowley looks so tired but he's still making an effort to be charming, and the little girl is clearly suspicious of him. Additionally, I'm pretty impressed by all that crosshatching.

That is absolutely lovely! I love how you've made each person distinctive and recognisable, not just Aziraphale and Crowley.
