Happy Holidays, crowoxy!
Dec. 20th, 2017 05:48 amCrowoxy, your secret artist used your prompt to create a gift of art and meta!
For: crowoxy
Rating: K
Characters: Aziraphale & Crowley, Adam Young & Dog, War, Death
Warnings: None
Prompt: "Good Omens, but with Daemons. In order to blend in as humans, the representatives of Hell and Heaven, respectively, are forced to create their own daemons. 6,000 years of a physical manifestation of a soul/Grace/Something and even immortals start getting attached. Basically, how Good Omens would look like with daemons added in."
Title: Daemons
I absolutely adore His Dark Materials/Daemon AUs, so I was really happy to get this prompt! I focused more on the non-human characters, since I thought their relationship with daemons would be more interesting.

Crowley started out manifesting his daemon as a snake, since it was the easiest form for him to create, being familiar with being a snake himself. Specifically, his daemon is a milk snake - a breed of snake that looks similar to the poisonous corn snake, but is in fact not poisonous. He went back and forth on deciding on a name, but eventually decided on Rosaline after hearing the name from a certain playwright.
When angels come down from Heaven to do business on Earth, they usually manifest dove daemons. However, Aziraphale felt that this was too obvious for a long-term visit, and spent a long time finding an animal he felt was suitable to manifest his daemon as. His daemon is a call duck - a breed of duck meant to be kept as pets, so they're rounder and meant to be cuter than the typical duck. Her name is Seraphina.

Adam's daemon was always predestined to be a Hellhound, due to him being the Antichrist. However, his personality has caused Dog to calm and become more dog-like over time (like in the book), so everyone assumes his daemon is some strange breed of dog.

War, Famine, and Pollution all appear to have seemingly normal daemons, but as the apocalypse began to approach their daemons began to act more....uncanny to the typical viewer. Each of their daemons began to more closely embody their horseperson's namesake; War's daemon got more violent, Pollution's daemon became more foul, etc. War's daemon is a wolverine, which are known for being one of the most violent and aggressive animals in the world. His name is Mars.

Unlike the other three horsepersons, Death's daemon never settled; instead it takes on the form of whatever animal is associated with death in the place Death is visiting. Sometimes it is a raven, sometimes it is the Grim, sometimes it is an owl, and sometimes it is a black cat. No one is truly certain of what Death's daemon is named, though the other three horsepersons have a theory that it may be "Memento Mori".

Date: 2017-12-20 01:27 pm (UTC)I really loved all of the daemons you came up with. I love that Aziraphale's is basically just "an especially cute duck." And Death's daemon is particularly cool. Also the art is great! My favorite artwork is War and her daemon. Nice work!

Date: 2017-12-29 10:26 pm (UTC)I was so excited when I saw that Crowley's was a snake that looks poisonous but isn't :D
I'm glad you gave Aziraphale a perfect reason for choosing a fluffy white duck, because we all KNOW that's what he'd have, but it's even better when there's a thought process behind it!
Everyone's are chosen so well, especially the fact that Death's gets chosen by how people view him instead of by himself.
I love all the art!
