Aw, how lovely! I like the design. And Aziraphale's sweater looks incredibly comfortable.

Thanks. :)

It's just a random person, more or less. Nobody from the book. (I'm jealous too.)

...Crowley'd better watch his hands around that Bible.

XD It's adorable, and so very very like them.

Aww, I love Aziraphale's dreamy look. Reminds me of myself when I get too absorbed in a book.

ZOMG! Your Aziraphale and Crowley have nearly the same facial design as mine do! XD

Anyway, they're absolutely lovely, and so very homey. I love that mug. And am I right in guessing that that's either Anathema or Hermione in the background? *crosses fingers*

Well, great minds and all that . . . ;)

Thanks! But I'm afraid not; the person in the background isn't from GO (or HP either). Though the latter would make quite a believeable crossover (odd that I've never come across that; I'm sure it's been done).

Absolutely precious ^^ "tch" indeed, something that you'd never expect from a demon. Who's the poor bookstore customer being neglected?

I adore this sort of little, comfortable, domestic moment! More than all the flash and fire, it touches on the "forever" aspect of A/C -- the delightfully peaceful and enduringly reassuring "old-marrieds" feel that I love about them. Brava, Secret Artist!

Thanks so much! I quite agree, really: I enjoy a bit of flash and fire as much as the next person, but it's the whole bickering-spouses feel of these two that really sells them as a couple, for me, particularly in the context of the book itself. I'm glad the mood worked out. :)

What a sweet moment for these two! It's always nice when Crowley lets his "cool" guard down.

"I love everything that's old, - old friends, old times, old manners, old books, old wine." Seems rather Aziraphale, don't you think?

I absolutely adore the style you've used--and the composition is SO unique, and really, really cool, with A and C actually outside the background. Just a brilliant job, artistically.

Also, AWW!! And the mug! And I didn't even notice til the second time I looked that it was a Bible on the table! Basically, what everyone else has said. I just had to drop in and give you my Christmas squee. ^_^

Thank you so much for sharing; I really, really love this. It is VERY them.

PS: OMG, Az in a sweater. *has hidden kink for men in turtleneck sweaters* ^_^;;

I figure that Aziraphale's books are blessed against damage (which is fortunate, since he doesn't have enough shelf space).

Mystery Artist!

My intense and heartfelt apologies for not responding sooner; i just got done with a truly infernal finals week, and i kept waiting for a chance to sit down and write you a proper review, but it never came; this was very rude of me, and i want you to know that this great bit of art really brightened one of the hardest nights of the week --i discovered it shortly after tripping up a set of stairs and dropping my final studio project of six handprinted/bound books into a puddle six hours before the class critique and it helped jog me a bit out of the black shallow pit of despair into which i had settled. The subsequent frantic reprinting/binding of the books and writing of research paper did not, however, leave me the time i wanted to spend thanking you for it.

Formally, I really enjoy the repeated circle motif: the interaction among the table, background cutout, wreath, and mug really ties the piece together. Additionally, the cross on the front of the bible and the back of Aziraphale’s chair make a nice connection in the first ‘layer’ of the drawing, and i think it really helps establish a sense of space. At the same time, the browns and greens that compose Aziraphale’s outfit complement the colors of the far background, making Crowley seem wonderfully intrusive, sandwiched as he is between the two layers-- the black-clad misfit skulking about the place.

Regarding the pair: I love that their faces are so different; you’ve really managed to evoke believable structure with just a few lines. I feel like I get a great sense for the shapes of both their faces, in that they’re cartooned, but I can see it translating to real life. Crowley’s mouth, with that triangle of sneer in the corner, and the cheekbones, are particularly effective.

I also adore the angle of Crowley’s hand with the mug. it’s a very believable, casual reach.

In conclusion, I love it! Thank you so much, mystery artist. You definitely made a shitty day much brighter, and I hope your holidays are wonderful.

Wow!

I have to say, this is probably the best response I've ever recieved to giftart, or to a fandom exchange, or anything of that sort really. Having been through finals horror all too recently myself, I'm very glad I could bring a little comfort. (That sounds awful, geesh, I hope things turned out okay.)

I've never had my comicky drawings reviewed by an art student, either. I'm glad it held up all right. *blush* I'm amazed by the way you articulate the various formal aspects . . . it's not that I'm not aware of these things, but I don't tend to put them into words, even in my own head. (I come to cartooning more from the storytelling side. Alas, I didn't have time for narrative this time around.)

Anyway, I'm quite tickled that you like it! It was a great deal of fun to draw, and forced me to break out some technique I hadn't used in awhile.
