I, too, love the background - and Aziraphale's eyes.

I take it they each got the wrong one? Love it.

(Sorry for not commenting sooner - this would be posted just as I left for the weekend!)

So cute! It's the details that really make this - Aziraphale's awful sweater, and both their hairstyles, and their expressions, and Az' blue, blue eyes, and the oven settings, and the birds in the pie... as you can see, I could go on and on. ^^ Thank you so much for sharing!

I've loved your cartoon style already, particularly the way you do Aziraphale but the novel background here with the figures in flat cream contrast to a distressed paint or glue stained over texture over type is a marvelous idea. They really pop on the page and the texture is so pleasing (makes me think of the scrapbooking/collage kind of technique Gaiman's regular illustrator Dave McKean)

The joke is funny and the contrast of their lifestyles: fussy, cozy angel happily baking from scratch and demon breezing in and throwing in a frozen pie, all to come to the same disappointment is really clever.
